Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs faces a number of serious sexual assault allegations included in various civil lawsuits as well as a federal sex-trafficking investigation.
Following a December 2023 civil action filed in New York, Diddy issued a denial to PEOPLE magazine refuting any allegations of sexual assault or misconduct:
“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy,” he said.
“Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth,” Diddy added.
But last week, video footage of Diddy physically assaulting former girlfriend Cassie was released by CNN. Days later, the music mogul issued a public apology taking “full responsibility” for his actions.
“I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry,” he said.
Sean Diddy Combs has had a long history of sexual assault allegations which predate the federal raids carried out at his Los Angeles and Miami homes on March 25, 2024. This blog will include a timeline of Diddy’s sexual violence allegations as well as a listing of the civil lawsuits filed against him by victims – both women and men.
In recent years, several states have passed laws enabling survivors of sexual assault with windows to file civil lawsuits against their perpetrators – even for crimes which occurred decades ago and would otherwise be barred by the statute of limitations.
New York’s Adult Survivors Act – which was open from November 2022 to November 2023 – was a critical piece of legislation allowing the aforementioned women to bring their sexual assault and sex-trafficking lawsuits against Diddy.
In California, a similar window is currently open which allows adults who were sexually assaulted in 2009 or later to file their lawsuits for damages. The law – known as the California Sexual Abuse and Cover-up Accountability Act – gives any adult survivor (meaning you were 18 years or older at the time of the crime) the opportunity to file a civil lawsuit through the deadline – December 31, 2026.
If you are a survivor of California sexual abuse, filing a civil lawsuit can be a means of securing justice on your own terms.
