Fontana Youth Softball Coach Joel Sanchez Madrigal Arrested for Alleged Sex with 12-Year-Old Girl
Law enforcement officials have arrested an area man who worked as a youth softball coach on allegations that he sexually abused a 12-year-old girl.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials placed Joel Sanchez Madrigal, 47, of Fontana in custody Sunday after receiving reports that someone had sexually assaulted the girl, according to Fox 11.
The youth softball coach was booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on the following charges:
Madrigal was subsequently released on $120,000 bail, according to multiple media reports. KTLA 5, however, reported that Madrigal was released from custody without bail on Monday.
Fox 11 also noted that it was unclear whether the alleged victim was an athlete Madrigal had coached.
Given Madrigal’s position as a youth softball coach, authorities believe there may be more sexual abuse victims and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying any additional children who may have been victimized.

Galindo was relieved of duty shortly after his arrest, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
