Orange County orthodontist Frank Mogavero has been arrested on multiple charges of child molestation and possessing child pornography.
The suspect – full name Frank Joseph Mogavero Jr. – faces multiple felony counts for the alleged sex crimes.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has released details about the arrest of Frank Joseph Mogavero Jr., 63, a practicing orthodontist in the area and resident of San Clemente. His practice, Mogavero Orthodontics, is also based in San Clemente. Court documents state that Mogavero also operates offices in San Diego and Mammoth Lakes.
The Mogavero Orthodontics website indicates that the suspect earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering as well as his dental degree (D.D.S.) from UCLA.
The allegations against Mogavero are disturbing and span several years. The alleged victim, whose identity is being protected by the DA’s Office, is reported to be a young boy who was not a patient of Mogavero at the time of the abuse.
Authorities have charged Mogavero with five felony counts of committing lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14 and one felony count of possession of child pornography. The charges carry significant potential consequences. If convicted on all counts, Mogavero could face a possible prison sentence of more than 16 years.
